Uche Ignites Dominant Palace Win at Shelbourne.
Even though embarking on their maiden European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Missing star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further three points in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This match offered a chance for several Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, scoring for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne side that had finished their league season proved outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.
Control Established from the Outset
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.
Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official waved away the appeals.
Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.
The home side were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
