Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
