British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
This update on his health comes as the global fight fans shared sympathy for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
